(AKA ASCORBIC ACID)
✨your daily treatment & protection✨
A potent antioxidant that combats free radicals, which are responsible for premature skin aging and damage
BENEFITS:
- Brightens: Vitamin C inhibits melanin production, effectively fading hyperpigmentation and giving your skin a radiant glow.
- Boosts Collagen Production: It’s a collagen catalyst, which means it helps maintain skin’s firmness and elasticity, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Shields Against UV Damage: Vitamin C offers a degree of sun protection by neutralizing free radicals generated by UV rays, although it should not replace sunscreen.
INTRODUCING VITAMIN C INTO YOUR ROUTINE: Best used in the Morning ☀Start Slowly: Begin with a lower concentration or more gentle formula and apply it every other day. As your skin becomes accustomed, gradually increase usage to daily.Apply Vitamin C first after cleansing and toning but before other serums or moisturizers. Let it absorb for a few moments before applying your other products
Avoid with:
- Retinoids: Large differences in pH of these products make ingredients ineffective, also likely to cause irritation when mixed
Use caution with:
- AHAs and BHAs: While not off-limits, using these exfoliants alongside Vitamin C may increase the risk of sensitivity. Monitor your skin and adjust usage accordingly.
- Copper Peptides: When combining copper peptides with Vitamin C they can interact in a way that reduces their effectiveness.
DO use with :
Sunscreen: Vitamin C boosts your skin’s defense against UV damage when used under sunscreen.
- Hyaluronic Acid: It enhances hydration and plumping effects when used together.
- Vitamin E: This combination can provide enhanced antioxidant protection.
DIFFERENT FORMS & DERIVATIVES OF VITAMIN C:
- L-Ascorbic Acid: This is the most researched and effective form of vitamin C. It suits most skin types but might cause irritation in sensitive skin. Start with a lower concentration and gradually increase.
- Ascorbyl Palmitate: A more stable form of vitamin C, making it suitable for those with sensitive skin. It may not be as potent as L-ascorbic acid but still delivers benefits.
- Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate: Ideal for acne-prone skin. It can help reduce breakouts while providing the benefits of vitamin C.
- Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP): A gentler form that’s suitable for sensitive skin. It’s also known for its hydrating properties.
- Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate: A lipid-soluble derivative that penetrates skin easily. It’s effective for addressing wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.
